– Just one component of our 2 week program.
Dysautonomia is a serious medical problem, but one that may be successfully remedied by the institution of multiple treatment modalities here at the Institute in our 2 week Program to Recovery and Control.
The goal of biofeedback therapy is to gain control of the autonomic nervous system (ANS) and thereby directly address the dysautonomia. When a person has dysautonomia, symptoms are caused by an overactive sympathetic nervous system. Biofeedback therapy uses techniques to engage the parasympathetic nervous system, which promotes greater balance within the ANS and lessens symptoms. This is done without medication and is therefore more appropriate for many patients because many patients have multiple sensitivities to medication. Also, medications only treat the symptoms but do not address the root cause, autonomic nervous system dysfunction. Patients are eventually able to re-establish an automatic thermostat within their body that controls their bodily functions. It used to be thought that once the ANS became dysfunctional there were no known treatments of reversing this problem. We now know that this is no longer true and we can retrain the ANS with biofeedback therapy, strategic supplementation and anti-inflammatory nutrition..
The ReNue Health Program for Dysautonomia Therapy includes:
Intensive 2 week Medical Biofeedback Therapy
Anti-inflammatory Nutrition
Strategic Supplementation Plan

WHAT IS BIOFEEDBACK THERAPY
Biofeedback therapy involves training patients to control physiological processes such as muscle tension, blood pressure, and/or heart rate.
These processes usually occur involuntarily, however, patients who receive help from a biofeedback therapy may learn how to completely manipulate these autonomic processes at will.
Biofeedback is particularly effective at treating conditions brought on by severe stress. When a person is stressed, their internal processes such as blood pressure can become irregular. Biofeedback therapy teaches these patients certain relaxation and mental exercises which may alleviate their symptoms.
Therapists can measure a patient’s performance by attaching electrodes to their skin and displaying the processes on a monitor. Eventually patients learn how to control these processes without the need to be monitored.
During a biofeedback session electrodes will be attached to the patient’s skin, which sends information to monitoring software. The biofeedback therapist reads the measurements and through trial and error singles out mental activities that help regulate the patient’s bodily processes.
Sessions are typically less than an hour long and most people will begin to see positive results after 5-10 sessions. However, some patients may need as many as 50 sessions.
Treatment is administered by placing sensors on the surface of the skin. These sensors are connected to electronic instruments and record a your biological information that is controlled by the Autonomic Nervous System. These physiological processes are displayed on a computer screen in front of you and you are able to monitor them constantly. Thus, patients go through step-by-step sessions whereby they are able to make the necessary adjustments to regulate their blood flow, muscle tension, stress, anxiety, blood pressure, respiration, and heart rate while actually looking at all these autonomic functions. As you make small gains towards having a normally functioning autonomic nervous system (ANS), you receive auditory and visual positive reinforcements from the screen. The brain wants to continue receiving this rewarding feedback and makes the appropriate changes within the body, thus the brain is being trained to regulate the ANS. Eventually, the process becomes permanent and second nature to keep the ANS functioning normally, just like setting an automatic thermostat in our homes. There are no side effects or pain involved, and the sessions are very relaxing and rejuvenating.
INCREASE PHYSICAL PERFORMANCE
Training your mind IS training your body!
People in physically demanding careers are especially in need of managing stress. Success at these careers depends on the ability to manage stress stemming from family changes, professional challenges, fear of injury, and pressure to succeed.
Techniques that help you access your true athletic abilities
Biofeedback is one of the most effective and widely used performance-enhancing disciplines used by professional athletes. Biofeedback gives you the ability to relax and respond better to pressure by consciously controlling your body’s natural stress response.
